Creator’s Comments

When I first played with Armadillo I was surprised by the outer terrain texture being the same size as the center texture. That set wheels turning in my head about a track design that used two grids with two different displacement maps. I designed this track to use the center grid and the grid to the left of center. The displacement maps were designed to restrict the view in a way that while riding around the track it is not obvious that all the other grids are the same with the same texture. I think I accomplished that.[note from VRT_McD (site admin): Sorry to those looking for the pictures below, but the server extension those images link to appears to be dead. If I can acquire them somehow, I will update this page. Leaving the table and links in place so it will repopulate itself if Bruce is able to restore the originals.]

I also tried to design this track so that it had a lot of lines and so that it was easy to recover from mistakes. So try out different lines and don’t be afraid to use your brakes.

To give you something to shoot for X_Kobra recorded a ghost lap for you. Of course he turns a 1:50 while falling right after the 1st turn (as he turns my double-double/triple-single into a quad plus), and then finishes the lap taking some slow lines. I’m always amazed by the speed that he can maintain.

I hope you enjoy it.
